Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Dave: I have no Alfreds on record at all. But then most of the Lanigans I have lived in Kilkenny or in Lancashire.
I suggest, if you haven't done it already, you look in the Northumberland IGI. You would find relatives on there, too.
There's surely a Northumberland message board on the Web, and somebody there has CDs of the Censuses. I've been very lucky having people look up census records for me.
If I ever see anything of interest to you I'll pass it on. Good luck. Betty
