Hi, thought I would throw a new name in the mix.My husbands family name LaQuey, pronounced like it was spelled
Laquay, and it is spelled that way in some records.I believe it is french, and I think it means the end of the pier.Ancestor:
Joseph John Alexander LaQuey
born: 11 Aug. 1800 in Virginia
Died: 29 March 1891 in Union Springs, Pulaski Co, Mo
And there is a LaQuey, MO.
Family history says JJA LaQuey grew up in Kentucky and moved to Missouri in 1841.I have not been able to trace his parents. I have not been able to locate a LaQuey in the imagration records.Maybe I need to try the LaQue spelling.Or maybe they came thru Canada? Do you ponounce LaQue , LaKey?My stuff is on Ancestry.Nice to meet you both.
Kathy LaQuey
