Since no one else has answered, I'll risk an answer.

My guess is they are unrelated.

Larabee is probably a derivative of larrabe (as is Larrabee).

Although I do not follow the Leatherby name, I would guess that leatherbee might be a derrivative of Leatherby.

Anyone else out there have any ideas?
