Your Great-Grandfather, Charles D. Larabee, was born in Earlvile, Meriden Twp, Ill, on October 30, 1881. He married Grace Warren on Oct 1, 1907, in Paw Paw, IL. She was born on July 13, 1887, the daughter of James and Anna McBride Warren.
Charles was a building contractor in Mendota, IL, contractor for the local High School, among other projects.
He was tragically killed in an auto accident on June 10, 1925, leaving his wife with seven young children. His wife moved to Urbana, IL, after his death to raise her family. Three sons survived: Charles of Houston,Thomas of Arlington Heights, IL, Frank of Appleton, WI, Elizabeth McWilliams of Indianapolis, IN, Jean Porter of Colorado Springs, and Mary Louise Nagel of Tucson, AZ.
Grace died on Sept 8, 1973, in Indianapolis.
Charles was the son of James W Larabee, a Civil War hero. He was born on Dec 5, 1838, in Rensselaer County, New York, and died in Paw Paw, IL, on Dec 27, 1907.
His father was Willett Larabee, born in 1798 in Vermont.His mother was Mary Wool, daughter of James Wool of New York.
