Recently came across an index regarding the will of Adam Lard of Barnwell SC dated 1828. In this will were listed names Sarah Coward, Welcome Ussery, John Ussery, & John Hair. These are all Cheraw District SC area names of which I descend from the Coward Family. My g-grandmother Coward married a Welcome Ussery of a later generation. Does anyone know of a family connection of Coward/Lard, Ussery/Lard or Hair/Lard from the Cheraw District,SC? I have been especially looking for the wife of my James Coward(ab1768-1842) who's first daughter was named Sarah. Any help appreciated.
