I would like to exchange information with anyone interested in Absalom Lard/Laird who was my 4th great grandfather. He was born in Kentucky circa 1804 but his family was from Barnwell District, South Carolina. They did not stay in Kentucky very long. Absalom married Jane (Gincey) Turner Burt (a widow)in Lawrence County, Mississippi, in 1827. They are found on the 1830 and 1840 censuses in Lawrence County, Mississippi, but in 1850 they resided in Scott County, Mississippi. Absalom was in Bastrop County, Texas, by 1852. It is not known if his wife died in Mississippi, Texas, or somewhere in between but no record of her has been found in Texas. Absalom married (2nd) Elizabeth Farriss in Fayette County, Texas. I have not been able to determine the names of Absalom's parents but suspect his father may have been Thomas Lard who arrived in Mississippi Territory by 1810.
