Lard 1700's Lard or Laird

I would be very interested in information on any Lard in the U.S. before 1790. Would anyone like to enlighten me on the name was it always Lard before 1700's or was it Laird first and then changed? If you have a Laird or Lard or Lord in U.S. please help. Sherrill
