Evan, do you know where Philip Lash, born ca 1802, died? I have info that may lead to somewhere in Illinois. In a letter written on January 30th, 1870 by J & J Lutz, ( this would be Jacob & Jane Lutes) to William Weygandt of Wayne County, Ohio, he says Uncle Philip Lash has gone back in Illinois. He also says that Aunt Caty is quite feebly. Aunt Caty would be Catherine Onstott Lash, widow of John Lash (1797-1852). Jacob Lutes, was the son of Adam Lutes and Anna Lash, who ended up in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
Jacob Lutes' wife was Jane Wilson. Referring to Aunt Caty
being quite feeble makes a lot of sense, since Catherine Onstott Lash died in October of 1870.
