Levi (Levy) Lasky born in Prussia June 1832
I am updating 2 messages from 2000, 2001 so that my Yahoo email will show as I found today that my old message (#5 of 32) still carries my old ATT email!
Am searching for descendants of Levi Lasky, immigrated from Prussia before 1851 with family as a young man. Born June 1832. Wife Betsy or Brethy. Children Sarah, Ester, Michael C., Samuel W., Minnie, Benjamin, Harry, Joseph. I've found this family on census records for Los Angeles, Lone Pine (Inyo County), and San Francisco, California.
Levi left Poland with his family before 1850.His daughter Sarah was born in England. The family then came to New York where he married a Betsy Kaskell (no info so far on the first wife, but his daughter Sarah came to America also at about age 8). Levi was a tailor. He then went to Los Angeles, CA (family history says he came around the horn by ship, but that hasn't been verified)and was found on the 1860 census along with wife Betsy and children Michael, Samuel, Esther, Benjamin. 1870 census shows family (census spelling Alaska) in Inyo County, CA where 3 more children were born, Joseph, Minnie and I believe Harry. He was in this vicinity for about 15-20 years. He engaged in selling of dry goods and grocerys as well as extensive exploration in mining. The son Ben stayed in Lone Pine, Inyo, CA after the rest of the family moved to San Francisco. Our ancestor is Samuel, but also have some information on other children.
