December 1806 in Duanesburg, NY. Silas never learned to read or write. his
farm in 1835 consisted of only 5 acres of improved land. Silas moved back to
Canisteo about 1852. On Dec. 25, 1852 he bought 50 acres on lot 8 in
Canisteo for $250. Died 21 December 1887 in Canisteo, Steuben Co., NY.
Buried in Schenck Hill Cem, Jasper, NY.

wounded at Gettysburg (his regiment was the first Union regiment on the field of battle at Gettysburg), captured at the
Battle of the Wilderness and imprisoned at Andersonville Prison, GA. After the war, he went down to Fort Worth,
Texas and started in the business of breaking horses, and bringing them back for sale to the "eastern dudes." He married
Jane A. Purdy; who was born 22 Oct. 1840 and died 1920. George died 18 March 1914 in Jinksville, Tioga Co., NY.
2.Benjamin Franklin Lason; Born ca. 1843 in PA. He was captured near Thoroughfare Gap, VA on Oct. 22, 1863. Died
6 March 1864 in Andersonville Prison, GA and is buried there.

Courthouse, Virginia on 27 May 1862.
