Looking for info on John Lassen, who lived at 11B Company Street in Christiansted, St. Croix in 1860. In the census for that year, he was listed as age 49, Lutheran, unmarried, and a shopkeeper. The property was owned by Christian Lassen (his father?). Living in his household was my GGGGM, Ann C. Hendermann [sic] aka Anna Henneman, and her children Clara and Lauritz Nöemann. I'm wondering what the relationship was between Anna Henneman and John Lassen. He may have been her father, and since he was unmarried, she might have taken her mother's name. Or she and her children were boarders. In the next census (1870) she was married to the father of her children, and their name was generally written as Neümann or Neumann from 1870 and later.
If anyone has any connection to a Danish Lassen family that owned property in the West Indies (now the US Virgin Islands), please reply! Thank you!!
