It is possible this is the same James who lived in the South Ward and the 5th Ward, New York City. I found him in the 1790 census and also in the 1830 census. His father was Anthony LaTourette and his mother was named Mary. Anthony was born on Staten Island in 1732 but moved with his family to NYC. Anthony was the son of Jean and Marie (Mercereau - his cousin) LaTourette. It Jean's father, Jean, who came over from France and also was married to a Marie Mercereau. It makes since but I could be wrong.

One interesting thing, Anthony did own one slave in the 1790 census. He also lived next door to Aaron Burr of all people. I do know that Aaron lived on Staten Island at a time in Port Richmond.
