It appears there is a new yearbook scam being sent to people with the Latourette name, taken off of telephone lists. This is a company that was exposed as a scam yearbook operator known as Halberts of Bath, Ohio. Some years ago, they moved to Denver and then operated as Morphcorp. That was exposed as a scam operation on the internet. See, for example: http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/shame/morphcorp.htm
Or just put in Goggle the names of Halberts of Bath Ohio or Morphcorp. Now that Morphcorp has been exposed on the internet for yearbook scams, they have changed their name to Family News, but have the same address as Morphcorp -1181 S. Parker Rd Suite 105, Denver
The letter being received by Latourettes across the country advertises "The Year 2005 International Latourette Family Yearbook: A book celelebrating the last 2000 years of Latourette History". It alleges that it was sponsored by Latourette family members and "The International Latourette Family News" whatever that is! Most of what is in these Yearbooks can be obtained directly off the internet by accessing telephone lists or census data. The rest is a generalized "how to do it genealogy", not specific to the name associated with the name of the family on the yearbook. It is amusing that they say "2000 years of Latourette History" All of the yearbooks they produce cover 2000 years! My colleague in France, Jean-Luc Bilhou-Nabera, may have the history traced back to a Pierre Latourrette born around 1510- that is not even 500 years until 2010.
They use to offer for a sibstantial price a fake family coat of arms for the Latourette family of a small tower on top of a larger tower-- at least they had a little sense of what the name might mean!
