New Latourrette Webpage: Please note that my new Webpage www.latourrette.net , includes an explanation of how and why Jean Latourrette left Osse (Osse-en-Aspe) in 1685 and came to America in 1687. Several articles have been added correcting the false tales and fables about him found in Lyman Latourette’s Annals (1954) and Mrs. Jacob’s widely circulated notes and Compilation (1965). These articles, which have been posted previously on this Forum, have been updated and corrected where additional information has become available. Some recent pictures of Osse, with brief explanations, can be found on the Webpage. Additional scenes will be added in the future The remaining fable, with no substance, to be addressed is the one of Count de La Tourette in all of its versions from 1843 down to a contemporary account. It is a sensitive subject because the original sources reveal the descendants who generated and promoted the fable and suggest the reasons why. The associated research also reveals the ludicrous ends to which a blind search for “nobility,” not in Osse, but across France has led us in recognizing and honoring Jean Latourrette and his Huguenot ancestors in Osse.
