Thursfield connections
This is a copy of a will made in 1662 which mentions Henry/Harry Lattemore. Does it ring any bells with any Lattimore researchers
In the name of God Amen the three and twentith day of August in the year of our sovereign lord the second by the grace of God of England Scotland ? France and Ireland king & defender of the faith & the thirteenth Francis Thursfield of Blithbridgein the parish of Kinson & in the county of Stafford yeoman being in good & perfect memory praised be God do make this my last will & testament in manner & form following:-First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God & trusting to be saved by the atonement of Jesus Christ my alone saviour & redeemerAnd my body to the earth to be buried in decent manner And for my worldly goods I dispose of as follows First I give & bequeath unto Thomas Thursfield my eldest son all those now my three burgages cottages or tenements with all the yards gardens & backsides to the said burgages or cottages belonging, lying & being now in Newport in the county of Salop wherein Thomas Toy, Walter Adams & Richard Parker now dwell from and after my decease to have & to hold to the use &_ of gain the said Thomas Thursfield & his heirs of his _ lawfully begotten forever. And for want of such issue & then give and bequeath all the three burgages & cottages or tenements with all the yard gardens & backsides to the said burgages or cottages belonging lying & being in Newport in the county of Salop aforesaid wherein the now said Thomas Toy Walter Adams & Richard Parker now dwell unto my three Daughters Mary now the unfortunate wife of Harre Lattemore & Margaret Thursfield & Eliizabeth Thursfield spinsters to their heirs foreverAnd my will & __is further is that all those _ of those three burgages or cottages shall equally be divided amongst all those my daughters then living or any of their children in there ___ any of the said daughters shall happen to die leave any child or children of her body behind her into equal shares or parts yearly as it is paid for their better _and their children if any mother be dead until by consent the agree amongst them selves either equally to divide the said burgages or cottages or to sell the same by their consents as they are then living & the major part of them think it will be for all their better benefits & advantages do them all and every of the _ equal portions for their & every of their best _ & advantage the most good. I say again if it happen that my son Thomas Thursfield die without issue of his body lawfully begotten then my will is as afore said that my three Daughters & their heirs shall _burgages or cottages all thereto belongingfor ever before _ Item I give & bequeath to my son Thomas Thursfield best bed, bed clothes thereunto belonging & three pounds or _the bed , bed clothes thereunto _ for the life of him the said Thomas ThursfieldAfter the death of him the said Thomas Thursfield then I give the same to my executorsItem I give & likewise bequeath unto my said son Thomas Thursfield all the remainder of a lease of three days work of arable land lying & being in and of the fields belonging to Great Aston called the partfield made for two thousand yearsit was purchased from Andrew Corbett of Edmond in the county of SalopAlso in the name of Edward Thursfield only in trust forever And to my only use &_ with remainder of said lease I give unto my son Thomas during the natural life of him the said Thomas ThursfieldAnd the remainder of the said term that shall be_at the death of the my said son Thomas Thursfield I give & likewise bequeath unto my three daughters Mary Thursfield als Lattemore Margaret Thursfield & Elizabeth Thursfield spinsters to be equally divided amongst them during all the remainder of all the said term of years that shall happen to be at the death of my sonItem I give and bequeath unto my son one chest or coffer to lay his clothes in to be delivered to him by my executors shortly after my deceaseAnd it is my will further that my two executors or the survivor of them or their _shall at all time be _full of assistance to their brother my eldest son Thomas Thursfield who is but of a softly weak capacity and if he shall happen to fall into any want or distress that my executors & their executors & administrators as shall from time to time & at all times of the rest of my estates not bequeathed give & allow him suuficient & reasonable maintenance of meat & drinks & apparrell lodgings other necessaries for the competant maintenance of his lively hood during the life of the said Thomas Thursfield if so shall be given to any apparent want & necessities.Also I give & bequeath unto my son Edward Thursfield twelve pounds 2 silver spoons one for his godmother gave him & the other spoon is of my giftAnd my will is that Francis Thursfield my son shall be content _or cause to be contented & paid unto Mary Thursfield als called the unfortunate wife Mary Lattermore Margaret Thursfield & Elizabeth Thursfield spinsters my daughters thirty pounds of current English money within one year after my decease it equally to be divided amongst them all if therefore the said Francis Thursfield my son do content & pay or cause to be contented & paid unto my three daughters the said thirty pounds as aforesaid, that the I give & bequeath all those two messuages, tenements, burgages or cottages situated in the county of Salop: wherein Roger Wodcock Edmund Wedgwood now dwell together the yards , gardens, backsides there unto belonging with all the houses, barns, stables, buildings, _ & commodities with the appointments to the said messages, tenements: or cottages in my _ appendings, lying & being in Newport aforesaid.And lying at the southend, between the land of _ Luke Justice now in the holding or possesion of Richard Charleton _ maker on the westside & the lands of Mr Thomas Bentbow now in the holding or possesion of Robert Deanan on the eastside & lying up to the high street on the southend extendeth in length downwards towards Norborne from the channel? in the street there fifteen yards & four yards in _and or there aboutTo have & to hold the said messuages & _ burgages or cottages houses buildings backsides with the apptennts? thereunto belonging to the said Francis Thursfield & his heirs for ever, the aforesaid sum of thirty pounds within one year next after my decease so paid equally to be divided onto equall shares or pts amongst my three daughters or the survivors of them.And if the said Francis Thursfield my son do or shall not consent & pay the said thirty pounds unto my three daughters as aforesaid in dafault thereof I do hereby give & bequeath unto my three daughters all those two cottages, messuages tenemts or burgages situate in Newport in the county of Salop wherein Robert Wodcock & Edmund Wedgwood do now dwell together with the yards & gardens backsides _& comodities with them apptements to the said messuages or cottages & _ appdinages lying & being on Newport aforesaidAnd lying at the _ and between the lands of Mr Luke Justice now in the holding or possession of Richard Charlton, _ maker on the westside & the lands of Mr Robert D_ on the eastside & lying up to the high street on the southend & extending in length downwards towards, _ from the channel in the street there fifteen score & four yards northward or there about, to have & to hold the said messuages & tenements & burgages or cottages houses buildings backsides, barns, stables & yards, gardens & all & singular other the _ the apptences there unto belonging to my said three daughters Mary Thursfield otherwise called Mary Lattermore Margaret Thursfield & Elizabeth Thursfield spinsters & their heirs forever equally to be divided into equall shares or parts amongst them or the survivors of them.And then to my said son francis Thursfield I give & bequaeth six pounds for his childAlso my will is that my executors thereafter named shall within the_of one year next after my decease set forth to invest, take best benefit & legal advantage they can the sum of twenty poundsThe benefit & increase where my will it shall yearly & faithfully bestowed for & toward the main tenance & lively hood of my daughter Mary now ye unfortunate wife of Henry Lattemore, And in case the said Henry Lattemore happen to depart this life before the said Mary then my said executors shall pay over the said sum of twenty poundsSo by them to be set out, as aforesaid so soon as the sum may be conveniently be called in unto the _ of the said Mary : to be by her disposed of so as she shall think fit,But if the said Henry Lattemore do happen to survive the said Mary then the increase & profit of the said sum of twenty pounds shall be _by my executors towards the maintenance & livelyhood of the child or children of the said Mary incase she _until it or they attained the respective age of one & twenty years & the principal sum of twenty pounds aforesaid to be equally distributed amongst them & further incase the said Mary happen to depart this life without issue, leaving her said husband then my will is that my said executors shall hand the said principal sum of twenty pounds equally betwixt them my aparell will & intention being, that the said Henry Lattemore shall have no _ or benefit, _by the principal money or the increase thereof _hand_lying to do there_all, now in my other gifts or bequeaths in this my last will & testament _ Also I give & bequeath unto Margaret Thursfield & Elizabeth Thursfield my two daughters spinsters all my term of a lease of _unexpired at the time of my_by the _of Edward Thursfield my son citizen & draper of London _in form or_and _Waterson Mill & the _ ther unto belonging lying & being in Calleyhill (Galleyhill?) in the parish of Kinston & county of Stafford wherein one Edward Cartwright deceased did lately dwell with said _& there of together with_them unto belonging _by my deed assigned over to my two daughters with deeds_date the eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and fifty eight also I give & bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Thursfield spinster for the love & affection? I beared unto har mother & now unto her one silver bowl & two silver spoons of the_, more than her other sister Margaret is to have & if it so happen that my daughter Elizabeth Thursfield do die at my_her_my decease before one year and a day be expired, then my will & true _ is that all her legacies & all ye part of my goods that would have been due to her being one of my executors, and bequeathants what soever _be it more or less shall be whatsoever, And I will & give all the afore named bequeaths to her & all parts of to my two other daughters Mary Thursfield als Lattermore & Margret Thursfield, the same equally to be divided betwixt them into equal shares & it is my express will & intention being that the said Henry Lattemore shall have no _or benefit either in _debts legacies goods lands in will or executorship of this my last testament _or hand any thing to do I give to the said Henry Lattemore six pounds.Item I give unto my son James Thursfield twenty shillings to be paid to him by my executors within six months next after my decease all the rest of my goods cattell & chattels unbequeathed my debts, legacies funeral expenses being piad & discharged I give & bequeath unto my two executors they truly performing all my legacies & bequeaths further my said last will & testament for their & either of their bettering of their _ to be equally divided be_ them renouncing & revoking all _wills I do hereby make & constitute & ordain my beloved daughters Margaret Thursfield & Elizabeth Thursfield spinsters full sole executors of this my last will & testamentIn witness whereof I hand hereunto put my hand & seal the day & year first written above
