John,
My great grandfather, August Laube, and his wife, Ottelia Wohlfahrt, passed thru NYC in 1881, from Dresden. Ottlea/Ottelia's brother, Eduard Wohlfahrt ended up in Detroit, and he named one of children, Ida.
August ended up Otsego County, MI where he farmed. My grandmother, Hazel Clara Laube, married William Howlett. Clara Wohlfahrt married Carl Koske in the same county.
