Hi Laura,

Conrad is a common name in Germany. August had a son named Conrad too. He was my Mother's uncle, except that he married late and his 4 children were 1st cousins to Mom. We 3 children are, by and large, the same ages as Conrad's four children.

The Tsar/Czar encouraged Germans to move to Russia because they were industrious and educated. One part of Russia was entirely German in the latter half of 19th century. Stalin scattered them throughout the Soviet Union when the Nazi's invaded in 1941.

Bruce
