Hello, Carol. I have been looking for my great-grandfather Ray Laughton for a long time. I saw your message and thought I would write as we are both looking for Ray Laughton last known in CA. Of course, they could not be the same person given the time frame but I thought perhaps my Ray might have had a second family in which he carried on the name Raymond. Mine was named Raymond Marion Laughton. He fought in the Spanish-American War. Below are two messages I put on Genforum. One is about his father Charles. The second one is about Ray and I wrote it before I knew who his father was. Any chance you and your brother are related to my Ray? My great-grandmother and he were divorced in Angels Camp in late 1900 and I have no idea what happened to him after that. Thank you.

>>Charles E. Laughton: I am looking for information about the ancestry and relatives of Charles E. Laughton. He married Flora Bender 13 Feb 1871 in Sacramento, CA. They had three children. He was elected Lt. Gov. of NV in 1882. In 1889, he was elected as the first Lt. Gov. of WA. He died in Tacoma 13 Mar 1895. I know much about him after he came to NV but nothing about ancestors, siblings, or his place of birth except that it was in ME. I will be very happy to get any information as this is one of the biggest mystery spots in my genealogy search. Thank you.<<

>>Raymond Laughton: I am trying to find out both what happened to this man and where he came from. All I know is that on October 10, 1899, in Angels Camp, California, he married my great-grandmother Rebecca Estella Tripp. The marriage certificate says that he was 25 at the time of the marriage and a resident of Angels Camp. She was a resident of Stockton, CA. If anyone knows more, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.<<
