Believe it or not we find Charles to be somewhat of a mystery dispite his political career. My family history says that Charles was a cousin to Sumner Lee. Sumner was about 12 years older than Charles. I don't show any Charles in what I have on Sumner's line. However there are many Laughton's from Maine. The majority of them originally settled in Mass.
Charles kept chickens in Carson City, NV and did very well. I know he was a Mason and attended at least two National meetings. This is probably the source of his political connections. He also attended a couple of National Party conventions, I think Republican. He was married and had at least two children, Raymond and Flora.
Do you have any information other than what you listed? I have it down to explore him further the next time I get to the Historical Museum in Reno.
