Just curious as to the boundaries between Lincolnshire
and Nottinghamshire. My great grandfather came from Gamston, in Nottinghamshire, near East Retford. I know it
was quite close to Lincoln, for I drove into Lincoln when
I was there in 1987. Albert Edward married a Mary Ann
Hinds from Sturton le Steeple in the 1820's and left for
the US via Hull, Enfland soon after. I found the record of
his birth in the parish records in Gamston and found several
headstones for Laughton graves. Does any of this ring a
bell with you?
