I am looking for information about Barbara Laughton born in Scotland between June 1850 and March 1851. Her father was Samuel Laughton, Merchant Tailor, who died prior to 1877. By the time of her marriage to William Scott, Master Mariner, in 1877 she was living in Linskill Street, North Shields, Northumberland. The 'Shields Daily News' at the time referred to her as the 'eldest daughter of Mrs Laughton of the Town Mission (North Shields) so she had siblings. She had one son, William Laughton Scott who 'moved abroad' after her death, possibly to Australia. A witness at Barbara's wedding was Annie Laughton. I suspect Barbara was the daughter of Samuel Laughton, b.S.Ronaldsay 18th March 1825, and Anne Isbister (Kirkwall & St Ola). They married 29th January 1850 (Twice in fact on S.Ronaldsay and Kirkwall & St Ola on the same day). That couple had two children that I know of, Thomas b.1856 and Williamina Ovenston Laughton b.1858.
