Samuel Laughton was born in Lynn MA around 1721. His grandfather Thomas Laughton was a member of the General Court in MA.

He married Susanna Melvin (I have the date Jan. 13, 1757) in Concord MA but moved to Rutland MA where most of their 9 children were born. Their names were Samuel, David, Amos, Jacob, James, Mary, Susanna, Esther, and Sarah who died young.

I have the story of their settling in the wilderness that became Dummerston VT from his great-granddaughter, my great-great-great- grandmother, Laura Smead Holton Stebbins.
