In researching my own geneology I came across a Capt. Laughton. He operated a steamboat (1844) called the "BEAVER" formally called the "COLBOURNE"(1832). He was partners with a man named Charles Thompson. They ferried new immigrants to Canada mainly via Lake Simcoe. You might find something more about this man if you check out the history of Simcoe County. I am in this area so if I can help out drop me a line. Don't know if they are one in the same....but I thought I'd let you know. Good Luck!!!
