Can be a coincidence, can be migration, and can be a separate development. I understand Laure is a female first name in France. If they just lost the -e in the end...?
Anyway, if we assume the South-West France Laurs took their name from Latin Laurentius too, it's no problem. Names can go different paths and end up in the same form. People can go different paths too, and carry their names with them.
I don't know any French, so I assume you can tell me, if Laur has any linguistic links to any French words?
