Hi Nita!Interesting. This definitely means I will have to look at every Ravelette to see if they really were a Lovelette.SO many mistakes! Let's see if I have this correct:You're suggesting there were families of Ravelettes; Lovelettes; AND Tougas dit Laviolettes?I was under the impression (at least from my line) that the Lovelettes (which later, after various spellings, became what is now my name - Lovellette) actually derived from the Tougas dit Laviolette name.At any rate, that's the way I traced it. I know there are other surnames with the dit Laviolette also.I can see how the mistake would be made in recording Ra for La and vice versa.Names and spellings didn't mean much to them back then. They didn't realize you and I would come along a hundred years later and want the REAL truth! The church records that you have - are they copied from the actual records at Vincennes?Or are they the transcribed ones in the book at the library?I wonder about the transcription margin of errors.Thank you very much for clearing up the mystery re Marie-Desanges Deslauriers.Deward C. Williams published a book in 1969, Wabash Lineages, that helped me a lot, even though there are a few errors in there also.He didn't mention any Ravelettes however. I hadn't thought about the various spellings re Civil War records. No telling how they spelled their name marching off to war!Going to give it a try tho, maybe taking the spelling from the census records at that time.Ginger
