Hey Dwight,

About our Lawings. My cousin told me that William Lawing Sr. was caught stealing jewelry and a man paid him out of it. The courts released him and made the man responsible for him. The man brought him to America and made him work for him until his debt was paid in full. I don't know how true this story is but my cousin said that she found this in a book. I will find out what book she found it in and let you know. I would like to see this book too. I never have thought of our last name being German. It doesn't sound German to me but what do I know. Your grandmother's story is an interesting one. Better go for now. Email me back if you have anymore info.
