Jethro and his wife, Sarah Cox, moved to Georgia prior to 1845, when Harriet, the last of their 3 children was born. Sarah died there (I presume) in 1848. I believe Sarah's sister, Eleanor Cox Reed, was living in Georgia at the same time. When Sarah became ill, Eleanor's daughter Margaret Jane Reed, nursed her until her death. She later married Jethro, and their first 3 children were born in Georgia. They moved to northern Alabama sometime before 5/4/1858 when William James was born, followed on 2/27/1861 by Thomas. They also took Harriet to Alabama with them.

Jethro volunteered for the Confederate army sometime before January of 1862, and died of dysentery April 8, 1864 in Lynchburg, Va.
