My father, Kenneth Richard Lawn, was born in Sowerby, near Thirsk, Yorkshire in 1920. His father (Harry, married to Edith)and his grandfather, Henry (married to Rachel), were also from the Thirsk area.
There is a family legend that the family originated from Rievaulx, not far from Thirsk, but I have never had this confirmed.
