Buxton Lawn
Posted by: Lynette Vinet (ID *****7150) Date: February 20, 2008 at 11:45:52

I am just beginning my research on Buxton Lawn who was the father of Eliza Lawn Ligon (wife of William Blackman Ligon). Eliza and Wm. Ligon were my husband's gggrandparents. I have read that Buxton Lawn was the son of King George III from a morganatic marriage to Hannah Lightfoot. I have two questions: what is the proof that Buxton was the son of Hannah Lightfoot--I've read some info as to that fact but is there some sort of baptism certificate or paperwork that listed the name of his mother?
Also, does anyone know why his surname was Lawn?
Thanks for any help with this.
