Dianne, Thanks for the info. There is another possibility for parents for Hester Laymon. She may be the daughter of Joseph Laymon and wife Anna. They lived in Rockingham Co., VA and later Boutetourt Co., VA before moving to TN about 1787. I think that the names of Hester's children including Joseph and Ann lend some credence to this theory. Joseph Laymon is very likely closely related to my ancestor, John Laymon b 1750, d IN 1834 (with stops in Fredrick Co., VA, Washington Co., TN, Bath Co., KY and Hamilton and Warren Co., OH) married 1st to Magdelene Humston in 1771 and 2nd to Elizabeth Goodpasture in 1786. The name Hester is used often in my line and seldom in the line you mention.
