James Learwood Laurens Co SC 1816 land record
James Learwood is named on a piece of a plate map insterted into an 1816 Laurens Co SC land sale. The little map concerns some Beaverdam property being sold by James Wright/Knight? (difficult to read) to John Leavell Esq. James Learwood's land borders to the north the parcel being sold, along with John Milam's to NE, McKelvery's? to the SW, William Coumley's/Crumley's? to the SE, and James McDowl's? to the E. Names mentioned in the text (previous owners of the land being sold) are: James Ryan, James Henry, Ratcliffe Joel [Jowell], Mark Moore, John Hersterson/Henderson?, Edward Learwood, and Robert Sims.
Could James Learwood be either a son or a brother of Edmond Learwood -- Edmond's 1790 census has a male over the age of 16 who I cannot identify. And if a son, could he have changed his name to Wood, as two of Edmond's other sons did?
