The information on Col. John Leas and Sophia Spangler corresponds to the grave stone and monument at the entrance to the cemetery in Waterloo, Indiana. They first came to Steuben County Indiana around 1839 from Ohio. They were farmers with land just West of what is Hudson, Indiana today. Then in 1868, the family moved to Waterloo, Indiana in Dekalb County. My grandfather's (John Albert LEAS) brother, Lloyd LEAS is the last known member of the ancestors of John LEAS to live in Waterloo. As a boy, I visited his home many times.
