REUBEN LEATHERWOOD

  of 1014

I would appreciate any help on this subject especially who his father was and his siblings.

Reuben Leatherwood, born abt. 1797 North Carolina. Married Elizabeth Garrison 29 March 1822, in Burke County, North Carolina. known children Rebecca Leatherwood b.1824, NC, Aquilla "Quilla" M. Leatherwood b.1843 Tenn. Reben Leatherwood b. 1836 GA. Elizabeth Leatherwood b. 1840 GA. John Leatherwood b. 1844 Ga, Martha Leatherwood b.1847 Georgia.

He is listed in the 1840 Gilmer County, Georgia Census. In the 1850 Union County, Georgia, Census. He retuned to Cherokee County North Carolina, later Clay County around 1860. Enlisted in the Confederate Army there 25 February 1863. Nothing on him after that date, though I don't believe he was killed in the Civil War. He may be buried in Clay County, NC.

His Wife Betsy shows up in Polk County, Tennessee in the 1870 Census. She is living with son Aquilla M. Leatherwood, and his family. Nothing else on her after Census.

Thanking you for your help in Advance
Bill Corbin
