Susann:

The information regarding Thursa (or Tearsey) comes from John A Leatherwood's Civil War pension file. John and his son Marcus (my ggggrandfather and gggrandfather, respectively) enlisted in the Union Army 9th TN Cavalry. The widow's claim states that they were married 18 Aug 1842 in Cherokee County, NC (the original records were burned) and that her maiden name was Moore and her father's name was James Moore.

I'd be happy to share what I have on the family (I haven't done much more with Tearsey, but I've got quite a bit on the rest of the family).
