Barthelemy LeBleu was my 4-grt grandfather on my mother's side. Her father's father changed the spelling to LaBlue, but the original spelling is LeBleu. I think because they were not very educated and so they spelled the way it sounded.I found where the LeBleu's and Charles Sallier were the first settlers in Louisiana in 1781. Also, I have heard that Louis LeBleu married to Marie Gentil(e) came from Bordeaux, France. When or were he came from I do not know. I come to a dead end.. Barthelemy is also known as Martin Bartholome (Bartholome, etc.) Camarsac. You can get really confused because documentation has a Martin LeBleu and a Barthelemy LeBleu claiming the same children. They are the same person. The LeBleu's were great for not giving middle names and repeating the same name in the same family. My lineage continues with Barthelemy and Marie Josephe (Josette) de la Mirande's son Arsene who had a concubine named Felicite Rion, then their son Joseph Alphonse who married Josephine Bertrand. Their son Martin married Lucy Virginia Davis and their son Alphonce is my grandfather. The LeBleu's are very colorful people and very private. Arsene LeBleu was a friend of Jean Lafitte. With Charles Sallier, who married the daughter of Barthelemy named Catherine and Arsene lived in the Chloe area. Jean Lafitte would sail up the inlet and hid his treasures. I have found where it is said that Arsene LeBleu was one of Jean Lafitte's captains. Lake Charles is named after our Charles Sallier. I wish someone could help me find Louis LeBleu and his wife MarieGentil.
