I remember my mother said the boys and girls at school used to call her "beefsteak and onions" as a nickname so I guess they understood the translation. She did say that Gramps family came from Quebec but that is all I know. His name being Joseph, and he had sisters, Tava, Deline and Jenny, who died when her hair caught on fire at the cook stove and she contracted pneumonia from the damage done by inhaling the flames.
