It is my understanding that the "dit" is a nickname or a "also known as " . Most of the research that I have done on my ancestor -Marie-Luce LeBrun (dit Carrier) points towards the St-Charles/St-Michel,Bellechasse Areas , then later (1830-1850 ) to the St-Claire de Dorchester parish . By the looks of things , we are , in fact researching the same line . Here is what I have received from the above parishes : ( Raw data)
Marie-Luce LeBrun (dit Carrier) bapt:15 dec 1828 @ St.Charles , daughter of Jean LeBrun + Genevieve Fauchon (marr: 21 jul 1823)
her Brothers and sisters :
Rosalie bapt: 25 may 1827
Gervais bapt: 29 aug 1825
Jean-Baptiste bapt: 31 may 1824
her Grand father: Jean LeBrun marr Marguerite Goulet 17 feb 1800
Her Gr Grandfather Jean LeBrun marr Brigitte Couture 21 Jan 1771
Her GR GR Grandfather Jean LeBrun marr Genevieve Allaire 1737 @ Ste-Vallier.
The 24 Nov 1864 , Pierre Carrier and Rose Bedard were godparents for the baptisim of my Gr Grandfather Pierre C. Fortin at Ste-Claire de Dorchester .
I have found some evidence of the LeBrun family coming through the Acadian region in the mid 1700's , but am still working on that aspect of the family history . During a visit to Quebec area last year , found COUNTLESS cemetary markers with the name Carrier , recorded some , will get more next trip ( hopefully) .
I will look back in my research notes for more info , and will let you know if there is anything else . Headed out for Vacation for a week or so , so will put this in my TO DO list when I get back.
