Taliaferro - Leckie

I found the following on the Taliaferro Times Issue 46. I am searching for the author of the item. I contacted DGFerrell@aol.com and determined that she was not the author. If anyone knows the author I would like to contact him/her about some of the information contained in the item.

"DGFERRELL@aol.com

****I have checked my records and found no Graves connection there--doesn't mean there wasn't one. I suspect it may lie with Harry/Henry Taliaferro's (1737-1803) family of Mountain Run, VA (Franklin County). He had two daughters Lucy and Melinda who are unaccounted in the records and fit with your time frame. Harry was a son of Kemp 1714-49 m 1736 Mary Thornton. His
children scattered to all the newly settled areas of the country. References in Colonial Caroline by Campbell and Virginia Will Records by Genea Pub Co. He lived in what is today called Stevensburg, between Culpeper and Fredericksburg on Route 4.

Children in case some are recognizable to your family:
John m 1795 Alice Leckie
Harry, Jr. (1)m 1800 Elizabeth Lovell (2) 1802 Rebecca Craine
Catherine "Caty" m 1794 William Rucker
Judith m 1786 Absalom Mendenhall
Lindsey
Elizabeth m ...........Leckie
Alice m 1797 James Thom
Nancy m James Crain
Lucy
Melinda
Sarah m ...........Leckie

Harry cut John off in his will (Culpeper Co Courthouse)but he provided for Alice and the children. He must have offended mightily."

Thanks all
Gene Leckie
