Hi Heather,

I replied because your message was interesting to me in several different ways!

1) My husband's great grandmother was Charlotte CUTHBERTSON of this same CUTHBERTSON family from Pontiac County, Quebec, Canada - they came originally, abt. 1820, from Lanarkshire, Scotland.

2)On my own side (I am a recent import; having arrived in Canada from Scotland in 1967), I have just discovered that my 5x gr. grandparents were John BLACK & Catherine LOCKIE (LECKIE, LACKEY, LOCKEY etc.) who moved about between West Calder, MLN & Carnwath, LKS, Scotland in the late 1700s.

3)My 4x gr. garandmother, Margaret BLACK, d/o of couple above, married a George HAMILTON in Carnwath. Margaret & George moved to Kilberry, ARL, Scotland abt. 1850. Their son, George HAMILTON Jr., gave my grandfather a very old gun (still in the family) that reportedly came from Lord Morton (likely Sholto George DOUGLAS, 17th Earl of Morton) who was "likely" some kind of relative through the HAMILTONs.

No idea if any of this connects to your research, but you never know!

Ontario, Canada
