I replied to your message a while ago, Simon, but perhaps it went astray. Robert Leckie's wife was Jean Taylor and they were both born in Glasgow - I have 11 children for them (via the IGI), all born in Glasgo, including John in 1840 and Samuel, who married by g grandmother's sister Annie Rome. they were the parents of the Robert Leckie who became Air Marshall leckie. He emigrated to Canada in 1907, but I haven't found him on the immmigration records. He worked for John Leckie ltd, so I'd be interested in anything you have on the history of the firm.
