Cindy:We corresponded a lot and I have your email but I thought I'd post this so others can see it. You obviously concluded that Nancy was Margaret's daughter, although it wasn't completely clear, I would guess that naming her grandson David Hall was the best clue.
Have you checked the court records for these counties?Sometimes in the case of illegitimacy, the court will intervene so the father pays something to the mother, or else the county has to pay to help bring up the child?
Also, could Margaret be a sister to William and David, AND a wife to another Ledgerwood cousin?Just a thought.NOt that I'm offended by illegitimacy in those times, I just have seen a few cousin marriages in my day!Especially in Virginia.
