Melissa,

I just came across your request for info on William Moody. I have a copy of the book "Joseph Ledlie and William Moody" written by Ledlie I Laughlin and published by University of Pittsburg Press. William Moody was born in or near Londonderry on 13 April 1791. His father, John Moody, was a merchant who kept a bleachgreen. William's mother (name unknown) died when he was only 5 years old. John re-married (Elinor Kennedy nee Parkinson, widow of William Kennedy) and they had two children, Robert born circa 1797 and Ellen circa 1799. John died in Dublin on 19 October 1806 when William was 15 years old. Following the death of his mother, William was brought up by his grandmother. He went to school at Newtown, Limavady...

The above is an extract from the book and there is lots more info with charts showing the Moody family from the marriage on 11 September 1817 of William to Isabella Ledlie.

I obtained my copy of the book from www.johntownsend.demon.co.uk - cost 20 plus postage.

If I can be more help please email me.

Regards,

Maxwell (Ledlie)
