I have some information that William Ledlie m. 12 Jan 1775 to Elizabeth Wood who was the daughter of John Wood. They married in Philadelphia. In the St. Paul's Church Cemetery (in Philadelphia) is "Mrs. Elizabeth Ledlie who departed this life Aug 29, 1829. Nearby are the stones for John Wood and his widow (unnamed) - though by the ages I would guess these two would have been Elizabeth's brother and his wife - not her parents.
Marriage licenses issued in PA include:
(1) Mary Ladely to Wm Anderson in March 1756
(2) Jane Ladely to Joseph Kelly in January 1756
(3) Jean Leadley to Alex McKeroy on 14 Apr 1763
(4) Aaron Leadlie to Susannah Jordan on 27 Jul 1767
My interest is in none of the above. I would like to know who Margaret (Wallace) Ladely was. She d. intestate in Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1756 where her estate was settled and William Alexander was executor. From the wording in the documents, I gather that Margaret lived in William's household. It is possible that Margaret (Wallace) Ladely/Leadly was his sister-in-law.
Would your Ledlie Genealogy have any mention of Margaret (Wallace) Leadly? Thank you.
