LeDoux Family DNA project
Hello to all,
The newly formed LeDoux DNA Surname Project is proud to be included in the new field of "genetic genealogy". DNA testing is becoming a useful tool for genealogists and can now provide a means of connecting LeDouxs within the USA and abroad. This testing can give us concrete evidence for identifying and separating family lines.
If you are researching a LeDoux family, (or spelling variation), we invite you to participate in our/your LeDoux project!
Since the Y-chromosome is passed down through an unbroken male lineage (father to son to son, etc.),you must be a male with the LeDoux surname or spelling variation to participate. In order for a female to participate, she must recruit a male on her father's side --her father, brother, male cousin, uncle, etc. Again a participant MUST be male AND have last name of LEDOUX or spelling variation to enroll in project. A female may join the project using a male relative for testing (This is what I did)
If you are interested in learning more, go to the Family Tree DNA website: http://www.familytreedna.comhttp://www.familytreedna.com
Explore the site and it will help answer any questions or concerns you may have about DNA testing.
Then visit the LeDoux DNA project website: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/LeDouxhttp://www.familytreedna.com/public/LeDouxYou will find more information on how to join our project and how to order your test. The rates for testing found on the LeDoux project site reflect discounted pricing for members of surname projects.)
Your genetic test kit will arrive in the mail. The kit consists of a cheek scraper, a collection tube and instructions. You simply rub the inside of your cheek a number of times with a special swab, put the swab back into the envelope, and drop it in the mail. Simple as can be. Participants are identified on the LeDoux DNA project web site not by name but by the number assigned to your test kit and by a distant grandfather to protect your privacy.
Family Tree DNA has 4622 different surname projects. The LeDoux project has now been initiated with one member: Kit 104013Descendant of Francious LeDoux b 1775 and Marguerite Roujot
It's time to get the LeDoux lines connected by Y-DNA testing and this is the place to do that. If you have questions or are ready to get your own family Y-DNA test done, Join the LeDoux DNA project and we can learn together.
The success of this project depends on the number of participants, so please pass this information along to other LeDoux researchers!
