The Methodist and Catholic Bishops are all interrelated when Bishop Stephen V Ryan, the Catholic Bishop of Buffalo NY, had a brother who was a Methodist Bishop. So far I have not found exacty where Methodist Bishop Mort Ryan was located.I am finding more paperwork that he might be part of the Pittsburgh Methodist Church started by the McMasters family of Edwin McMasters Stanton the Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln.
Since Bishop Stepehn V Ryan's records are sealed and any suggestion that Bishop Fulton J Sheen of Buffalo NY was a real Fulton of Steamboat fame gives the Catholic Church real heartburn, I am thinking this is where the connection is. They even get more heartburn when I suggest Bishop Ryan was related to Bishop Sheen.
This all has to do with Steam and Steamboats out of Pittsburgh. It also has to do with a book titled STANTON, Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of War.On page 68 a few lines down it states Pittsburgh lawyer Edwin M Stanton married Pittsburgh socialite Ellen Hutchison a descendent of Meriwether Lewis. Her father was Lewis Hutchison a wealthy shipper in Pittsburgh.
Lewis Hutchison's friend was Francis Preston Blair and his son Montgomery Blair was a personal friend of General Robert E Lee.
Everyone seems to be related to Mary Anna Randolph Custis who was Robert E Lee's wife through the Randolphs of Virginia.
Back to steamboats. One of the first steamboats built in Pittsburgh was owned or financed by Robert R Livingston who's sister married Robert Fulton.Robert Fulton's mother lived in Pittsburgh with relatives of Alexander Hamilton.
Edwin M Stanton's aide was General Harry Halleck who was married to Elizabeth Hamilton.Elizabeth was the granddaughter of Alexander Hamilton the Secretary of Treasury.Later Andrew Mellon from Pittsburgh held that position.
Meriwether Lewis was Alexander Hamiltons aide and Alexander Hamilton served under General Harry Lighthorse Lee during the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion in Pittsburgh.Guess who was Robert E Lee's father?
