Very interesting. I'm in Morocco and can't consult my documents. My relative Helen Apperley (below) is very knowledgeable on the Leeman family tree. I seem to recall that Hans Leeman's grandfather or father was not a Leeman but a Garmany and took the name Leeman from his mother. My grandfather William John Leeman (died 1935), son of George of Creeverow Farm next to the Navan, was head of the Irish tailors union and his brother David was also a tailor. My father William James Townsley Leeman,an Irish Fusilier, left Ireland in 1916 to serve in the Kings African Rifles and lived in Tanzania till he died in 1949. I have a home in Tanazania but also one in Toowomba, Australia, where my wife is a pharmacist and my son studies in Brisbane.

I will be in the USA in September.

I think the Leeman family of the Navan were origianlly Jews from the French/German border and married the Poolers, a neighbouring landed gentry family of Polish Jewish origin.
