I have been told that my Solomon Leeman was born in the Catskills area of N.Y. State about 1797-1800 and is listed on the 1871 Ontario census as being of German background. As you can see from a few other messages, a gentleman in NY has Solomon Leeman born in PA. To date, I have not been able to find anything definite on Solomon Leeman's parents. There is a Andreas Leeman married to Gertruey Charity Allen in NY in 1761-1766 and according to the LDS there are a number of other Leemans living in the same area at that time. Where they originated I have no clue. I have found no other use of the first name Solomon in any of the above mentioned family.

I'm open to ideas about Solomon and his origins.

Jean
