I think that would have been George Leeman, a member of parliament for York. Leeman Street, York, is next to the railway station.
The name Leeman is most common in Europe in the Netherlands, Belgium, York, Hull, and Northern Ireland. I think the York/Hull Leeman families may have been Dutch in origin. John Leman, Lord Mayor of London, came from a Dutch family named De Le Mans.
