Although my surname is now Wildey, I was born John Leeman. My dad was called Richard (Dicky) Leeman and was in the movie business on the production side - he later went into TV and produced several series on BBC TV musical shows, game shows, transferring to commercial TV when that started transmissions here in England. He produced late night programmes about fishing, etc. I, lost touch with him after my mother remarried and my surname was changed to Wildey. several attempts to trace him have always failed and I assume that he is now deceased. I know that he remarried and had at least one other son, who I have never met. His family originally came from around the west London area here in England, but I know nothing further back than my paternal grandfather. As far as I know the Leeman family name (or at least our branch) was southern english. But knowing British history, the family probably immigrated from Europe prior to the seventeenth century.

He was in the Royal Air Force during the war and when I was at boarding school, there was another boy called Leeman (but no relation!)

Whilst I was in the Air Force, I did come across another Leeman back in the late fifties he came from Ireland so there must be quite a few around
