Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I am following the Bailey's Island line. I live in Va. now but, I came back from Maine yesterday after visiting our relatives. Daniel Doughty Leeman b. 7.11.1903 is my grandfather, Herbert's, brother. Herbert is married to Jesse Campbell Doughty Leeman. Both doing quite well on there own, by the way! His parents were Thomas Ira Leeman and Evelyn Farr. Thomas's parents were Thomas Leeman b.12.28.1835 in York county, Me. and Elvira Jane Johnson b. 11.10.1840. His parents were Samuel Leeman b. 1787 and Caroline Amanda Hall. Caroline is sometimes listed as Carrie Amanda Small or Amanda Small but we feel certain that it is the foremost. Although we can trace all the branches to very early dates, we hit a wall with Samuel. My mother (Polly Leeman) just recently passed and I have inherited her gen. work. If someone knows of Samuel's or Amanda's past I would appreciate a holler.
We have Johnson, Bibber, Leeman. Farr, Douty (1630), Doughty (later spelling), Bully, Getchell, Bennett, Harridan, Wallace, Wallis, MacIntire (of Scotland), Preble, Douglas, Sinnett, Toothacker... well all the old island families. I can share what I have, but I don't have much that isn't fairly accessable on the web, no bibles or journals. What I do have is certain, though. Feel free to e-mail me. Any of you who are "completeists" can now add Gutleben to the branches. I can fill you in. CHEERS!
